Faith, Hope and Charity, The Camargue Cross The Camargue Cross, also a symbol for Faith, Hope & Charity, originated in the vast marshes of Southern France on the Mediterranean. A cowboy's tool, the three pronged fork, serves as the cross, signifying Faith, while a sea anchor, symbolizes Hope and is topped by a heart representing Love. The Carmargue region is known for its wild bulls, horses and flamingos. The original symbol was created by a painter and sculptor in 1924, and still stands in Saintes Maries de la Mer. Faith, Hope and Charity, daughters of Sophia whose name means Wisdom, died as virgin martyrs in the 2nd century AD at a very young age during the Roman rule of Hadrian in the 2nd century. Oftentimes, mystical virtues became names at Baptism as in the case of 12 year old Faith, 10 year old Hope and 9 year old Charity. The New Testament endorses strongly these three virtues and Charity is often called love. Brother Wolf commemorates these virtues with simple yet beautiful vintage symbols of the cross, anchor and the Sacred Heart, universally communicating the sublime meaning of Faith, Hope and Charity. Collection: Sanctus Virtue: Faith, Hope & Charity Feast Day: August 1, September 17 Social Cause: The Poor*Prices are subject to change based on fluctuations in metal prices and currencies
